The Secret to Making Your Content Pop Is…
Be yourself. Do what you do best.
Yes it’s an overly simplistic way of looking at things, but why try to fix what isn’t broken?
You likely already have everything on hand that you need to make your content really pop, and if you don’t you’re fairly sure of where to get your hands on that missing “oomph” that your content needs. The trouble is that most people don’t believe this. They don’t believe that they have what it takes.
We’re here to tell you that in all likelihood, you do. Sure, there is at least one person out there who doesn’t, but we’re going with statistics, and they say that your chances of missing this boat are very slim, so climb on board, do your best, and set sail for content that is so awesome people won’t be able to take their eyes off of it!
Be Riveting Without Being Pushy
People don’t like to be pushed into anything, and if they feel like they are being misled or forced into anything you’ll see the smoke as they backpedal away from your content. There is a fine line between being so awesome people can’t look away and “trapping” them in some way. When we think of traps, we think of those ASPCA commercials with the sad animals and sorrowful music. Yes, it’s effective, but it’s a bit forceful. It lays a guilt trip on you so thick that you can’t think beyond it and have to change the channel to clear your head. You don’t want your content to be like that. Be compelling, but allow people to take action in their own way and on their own time.
Here are a few ways that you can capture the attention of your readers and make your content pop…without pushing too many of the wrong buttons:
- Express an opinion…and be prepared to back it up.
- Communicate feelings others might have trouble expressing.
- Do something unexpected.
- Be funny.
- Solve a problem…honestly.
- Tell a story.
- Use a great image.
- Add a video.
Too many blog posts (and other kinds of content too) can lose the attention of their audience because they are so…normal. They read well, they give all of the necessary information, and so on. While not boring, they’re just not all that remarkable. People have a finite amount of time to give any one thing, and with a little work you can have content that pops and grabs their eyes with no trouble at all!

Don’t Reinvent the Wheel But Do Get New Rims & Tires
When you do create an awesome piece of content you want to share it with the world! For most people this means posting to a blog, a few social media accounts, and then sharing privately.
How do you do it?
Do you prepare a short summary or description, make sure you have a permanent link to where you have the content posted/uploaded, and then you’re off posting this set everywhere you can? A lot of people do this, and don’t get us wrong, it’s very effective, but….we believe that if you really want to make your content pop, you need to do one more thing on top of all of this.
Video: How to Make Your Content “Pop”
This video makes an excellent point, and their prop is a nice touch!
You need to create a “customized” description or summary to go with each mention you make of your content. So this would mean something unique for Facebook, then something different for Twitter, etc. Your blog might be the most comprehensive, so you can afford to be as descriptive as you like there if you’re announcing your new content this way.
Our point is that you need to make sure that you’re not just slapping the same information up over and over again in different places online. This is especially important if different members of your audience tend to hang out in different places. Tailor your message to them and watch their attention turn towards your content.
